Established in 2002 by British designer Tom Davies, TD offers something rare to the eyewear world – custom made frames.Tom designed for a host of famous brands when he started out, but was frustrated by the commercial constraints of mass market eyewear. After making frames for his friends and family, which fitted ‘perfectly’ and experiencing the amazing reaction when someone has eyewear made just for them, he decided to leave his job and start TD Tom Davies.
Tom’s Bespoke creations were a hit and gained him fans all over the world. It didn’t take long for the designer to start his own collection of Limited Edition frames, which were used byOpticians as starting points for a Bespoke service which did not need Tom in person to measure for.Tom opened his own workshop in 2008 and invited high end Opticians to train with him, so they could offer Bespoke together with Tom in partnership. The materials used include natural buffalo horn, titanium and premium cotton acetate. From the design stage, you can expect to be wearing your glasses in five weeks. This service, available from a global network of opticians, gives you the chance to create one-of-a-kind frames, in perfect harmony with your facial features.
What is Bespoke?
We custom-make eyewear. Our mission is to create frames as original as you are.The way we see it, your face is unique, so why shouldn’t your glasses be too?We work with you to create frames that are pieces of art; fitted perfectly to your features and personal style (not to mention the most comfortable glasses you will ever wear).Tom’s designers take precise measurements of your face and head, to make sure that your frame suits your facial features ideally.
All our frames are handmade to the highest quality.
Hand Made and Personalised
The first thing you need to know is that your frame is handmade just for you. This takes around 3-4 weeks to make. Delivery is on top and the delivery time depends where you are in the world.
Your frame is laser engraved with your name.If you have gone for the Couture option, then one of Tom’s designers will have re-worked the shape of the frame at a micro level to match the natural lines and features of your face.
Fresh out of university, Tom Davies flew to China with a backpack. He began working as a designer for a start-up eyewear factory.Cutting his teeth on the factory floor, he helped build production from scratch whilst designing glasses for other brands the world over.Tom returned to London on 2000 and set up TD Tom Davies, the first eyewear brand to custom make frames. The concept was an instant success, and the waiting list for frames sometimes ran to 12 months.Tom then launched his Ready to Wear line, which was eagerly snapped up by top boutique opticians worldwide. In 2008, Tom opened his own factory and now offers a full bespoke service through his global network of exclusive opticians.
